Spring Tilapia – now with improved resistance to Streptococcus agalactiae

At Spring Genetics, we are proud to announce an important product news from 2016, introducing improved resistance to Streptococcuss agalactiae in our breeding program for Spring Tilapia.

Using the most advanced genetics methods in combination with our family breeding program, we have been able to select brood fish with a proven higher resistance to Streptococcuss agalactiae. This is a continuatioin of the work we did for the previous generation of broodfish when we introduced improved resistance for Streptococcuss iniae.

The Spring Tilapia breeding program now includes selection for the two streptococcuss types as well as increased harvest weight – for the benefit of our customers who gets a fast growing fish with reduced risks of disease outbreaks.
